No Interviews for Scholarships

For many students, the interview is the most stressful part of the application process. As of April 24, 2026, several well-known scholarships only use “paper-based” evaluations, which means that your admission offer, transcripts, and essays do the talking for you. These programmes usually skip the video call phase and use an automated or panel-reviewed system based on merit. They also often give money right away when someone is accepted.

1. Automatic University Entrance Scholarships (UK and Canada)

The easiest “no-interview” scholarships are those that are given out automatically based on your grades. If you meet the requirements, the discount will be applied to your tuition without you having to fill out a separate application or talk to anyone.

  • The University of Sheffield International Undergraduate Scholarship gives students a £2,000 to £2,500 discount on their tuition each year. Starting in September 2026, eligible international students will automatically get it. You don’t need to fill out a separate application or have an interview; all you have to do is choose Sheffield as your “firm” choice by June 3, 2026.
  • • The University of British Columbia offers these high-value, renewable scholarships to outstanding international students. The selection is based on how well you did in school when you first applied for admission.
  • • McGill University Entrance Awards: McGill also gives out basic entrance scholarships worth between $2,000 and $12,000 that don’t require any extra applications or interviews. These scholarships are based only on your high school grades.

2. GREAT Scholarships 2026 in the UK

Many UK government scholarships, like Chevening, require long interviews. Each university runs the GREAT Scholarships, in contrast. A lot of these schools only look at a student’s written personal statement and academic record to choose their winners.

  • • Value of the Scholarship: At least £10,000 to help pay for one-year postgraduate courses.
  • Current Deadlines: Several institutional deadlines fall on April 30, 2026 (e.g., Edge Hill University and the University of Nottingham).
  • Selection Process: Most participating universities review the “Scholarship Application Form” and your previously submitted academic documents. If you win, you will receive an email by June 1, 2026.

3. KNB Scholarship 2026 for Indonesia

The KNB (Kemitraan Negara Berkembang) program is a big chance for students from developing countries to get full scholarships. It doesn’t use a live interview like many government programmes do; instead, it uses a video profile.

  • Due date: April 30, 2026.
  • The “Interview” Alternative: Instead of a live call, you have to send a link to a 5-minute YouTube video where you discuss your profile and why you chose to study in Indonesia. This lets you record and edit your “interview” until it is just right.
  • Selection: After you send in the video and your papers, the “Academic Selection” phase takes place from May to June, and there is no more live interaction.

4. Awards for government and agency work based on merit

Some specialised government funds put more weight on technical qualifications and research proposals than face-to-face interviews.

  • The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in Nigeria often uses a document-based merit screening to choose who gets its overseas MSc and PhD slots. Some cycles do have an aptitude test, but they often skip the formal interview stage for MSc candidates and go straight to a “Statement of Purpose” and academic transcript audit.
  • Swedish Institute (SI) Global Professionals: This is one of the most prestigious fully funded awards in Europe. The selection process is a “rigid screening and evaluation” of your CV, leadership experience, and letters of recommendation. The results for the 2026 cycle are being announced right now (late April 2026), and they are only based on those papers.

5. Options for Beginners and “No Essay”

If you want smaller, more frequent awards with no interviews:

  • $40,000 for BigFuture Scholarship: Available to U.S. citizens and international students in certain categories. You get entries by finishing planning tasks, like making a list of colleges. Every month, winners are picked at random.
  • Be Bold No-Essay Scholarship ($25,000): You can get this scholarship if your Bold.org profile is strong. The panel picks a winner based on how “bold” their goals and background are, and they don’t have to do a live interview. Due date: April 30, 2026.

Tip for 2026: If you want to win an award without an interview, your Personal Statement or Statement of Purpose (SOP) must be perfect. Because the committee won’t meet you in person, that paper is your only chance to show who you are and how much you care.
