Renewable Energy Professionals Scholarships

As of April 27, 2026, the renewable energy scholarship market is moving at high speed. The key ‘Round 1’ deadlines for the 2026 Autumn intake at top European schools have passed, but we’re deep in EIT InnoEnergy rounds, IRENA accelerators and early-bird 2027 planning for the UK and US.

These flagship funding and professional development opportunities are currently live.

5. Chevening Scholarships (United Kingdom) 2027/28

The UK’s leading route for energy professionals to study MAs in Renewable Energy Engineering, Energy Policy or Sustainable Development.

  • Award: Full tuition waiver, monthly stipend and return flights.
  • 2027 Cycle Planning Portal opening expected on August 5, 2026.
  • Work Experience: 2,800 hours work experience Energy experts could fill technical, policy advisory, or field engineering roles.

6. Energy Expert Essentials 2026

If you want to compete for a high-value grant this year, your application must demonstrate both “Grid Integration” and “Social Impact.”

  • The “Energy Transition” Narrative: General “Solar Power” essays are less competitive in 2026. Focus on Energy Storage (Battery Tech), Smart Grids or Green Hydrogen. Committees are looking to see how you cope with the variability of renewables.
  • Quantify Your Project Impact: If you are applying for the IRENA Accelerator and EIT Awards, include specific metrics: “Designed a microgrid providing 24/7 power to 200 households” or “Optimised turbine placement for a 12% efficiency increase.”
  • The “Ambassador” Component: For Fulbright or Chevening, demonstrate how your training will directly impact your home country’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
  • Admission First: Your scholarship eligibility at EIT InnoEnergy is based on your ranking in the admission round. Make sure your GPA (3.5+, please!) and your technical motivation letter are a perfect match with the university you select for Year 1.
