Grants for projects that help society

As of April 26, 2026, “Scalable Solutions” are the main focus of social impact funding. These are programmes that put more emphasis on getting a project done than on getting good grades. Even though a few deadlines in early April have passed, many high-value seed grants, innovation challenges, and fellowships for the 2026 and 2027 cycles are still accepting applications.

Currently, the 2026/27 cycle offers the main opportunities for social impact projects.

1. D-Prize 2026/2027 (to help people get out of poverty)

D-Prize is one of the best ways for new organisations that want to spread proven solutions to poverty to get seed money.

  • The Prize: Up to $20,000 in the form of a grant that can be turned into a loan to start a pilot project.
  • Status Right Now: Applications Are Open.
  • • Deadline for early submissions: May 17, 2026.
  • • Regular Submission Due date: June 7, 2026.
  • Focus: Your “Distribution Plan” is what decides who gets picked. Health, education, agriculture, and clean energy are some of the problems. It’s perfect for first-time business owners who haven’t yet got a lot of outside funding.

2. The 2026 Young Changemakers Climate Programme

A program that focuses on young people and supports community-driven solutions to sustainability problems.

  • The Prize: A fully paid trip to Europe for the summit, professional mentoring, and the chance to get seed money in the future.
  • Status Right Now: Applications Are Open.
  • The deadline is May 10, 2026.
  • Eligible Projects: Must be led by young people and focus on food systems, regenerative agriculture, waste management (circular economy), or climate monitoring using AI.
  • Selection prioritises the most significant scalable and useful environmental projects that can be implemented globally.

3. People who want to change things for the better for everyone in 2026 and 2027

A global effort that finds and empowers young leaders who are working to address structural inequality through solutions that focus on the community.

  • The Award: personalised capacity-building, access to a global peer community, and specific funding opportunities for new businesses.
  • Current Status: Rolling intake for regional groups.
  • The late 2026 intake for Sub-Saharan Africa Cycle is currently under review.
  • The preparation window for the Latin America Cycle is open until late 2027.
  • Focus: Projects that address access to education, including young people, and working together in the community.

4. VivaTech’s Impact 2035 Challenge

A big problem for creative startups and project leaders looking for game-changing solutions that put measurable social impact first.

  • The Prize: Getting global attention at VivaTech, meeting with big investors, and getting tech-based sustainability grants.
  • Current Status: Last Call.
  • Due date: April 27, 2026 (TOMORROW!).
  • Focus: Transformative technology that puts digital sovereignty, sustainability, and measurable social impact first.

5. The Echoing Green Fellowship for 2027

For visionary social innovators, addressing the root causes of inequality is essential. The 2027 cycle is an important planning goal, even though the 2026 cohort has already been chosen.

  • • The award is $100,000 over 18 months, plus a set of free support and leadership training.
  • Planning for the 2027 cycle: Applications usually open in late 2026 (September or October).
  • To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old by June 1, 2026, and be the project’s original founder or a key member of the project team.

6. Important 2026 Plan for Funding Social Impact

This year, your application for a project-based scholarship must go from “Vision” to “Validation”:

  • The “Distribution First” Mindset: Don’t make a new product for grants like D-Prize. Your proposal should focus on how you will deliver the solution (like vaccines or solar lamps) to those in need.
  • Put a number on your impact: “doing good” isn’t a metric in 2026. Use exact numbers, like “giving clean water to 500 homes” or “raising literacy rates by 20% in two villages”.
  • The 90-Second Video: A lot of impact grants (like VivaTech and Global Changemakers) now want a short video pitch. Make sure you show more than just your face; show the problem or community you are working on. Realness and “on-the-ground” footage are essential.
  • Local Leadership: ensure that the community is involved in the design of your project. The Changemakers for Equality grant reviewers place a high value on projects that include the people who will be affected in the decision-making process.

7. A summary of important deadlines (April/June 2026)

  • The Impact 2035 Challenge (VivaTech) ends on April 27, 2026.
  • May 10, 2026, is the date for the Young Changemakers Program.
  • The last day to submit for the D-Prize is May 17, 2026.
  • The Global Youth Innovation Challenge ends on May 31, 2026.
  • The regular deadline for the D-Prize is June 7, 2026. Scholarships for Social Impact Projects
