Scholarships in Environmental Science

The scholarship cycle for environmental scientists is at a critical point as of April 27, 2026. Although windows for immediate 2026 admission have mostly closed in the early part of the year, the EESF Master’s scholarships and some private sustainability grants are still available. Meanwhile, the best global fellowships for 2027 are now opening their portals for planning and early application.

Below are the flagship funding opportunities that are currently open or gearing up for the next cycle:

1. Foundation for Environmental Engineering and Science (EESF)

EESF provides scholarships for students who are starting accredited Master’s programmes in Environmental Science or Engineering.

  • The Award: $2,500 (Eight awards available; three aarefor under-represented minority students).

  • The Award: Full tuition, a monthly living stipend and return flights.

4. L’Oréal-UNESCO “For Women in Science” 2027

  • The Award: A significant financial award for research excellence (value varies by region).

  • • Eligibility: Female Researchers at PhD or postdoctoral level

Bold.org has several private, donor-funded scholarships live now for 2026.

How to win a high-value grant this year? Shift your application from “Observation” to “Solution”:

  • The “Climate Resilience” Pivot: Inwe will replace general ecology essays withaced by essays on Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), Circular Economy models, or Environmental Justice.
